A settlement has been reached with Fort Wayne Medical Education Program i/s/h/a Fort Wayne Medical Society Foundation, Inc. d/b/a Fort Wayne Medical Education Program (“FWMEP” or “Defendant”) in a class action lawsuit. This case is about the targeted cyberattack on FWMEP's computer systems that occurred in December 2024 (the “Data Incident”). Certain files that contained private information were accessed. These files may have contained personal information such as personally identifiable information (PII); protected health information (PHI).
The lawsuit is called In re Fort Wayne Medical Education Program Data Incident Litigation, Case No. 02D02-2510-CE-000038. It is pending in the Superior Court for Allen County, Indiana (the “Litigation”). FWMEP denies that it did anything wrong, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties have agreed to settle the lawsuit (the “Settlement”) to avoid the costs and risks, disruptions, and uncertainties of continuing the Litigation.
“Class Members” are defined as individuals identified by FWMEP's records who are entitled to benefits under the Settlement. Class Members may have received a previous notice directly from FWMEP.
